The serial premiered on 13th July, 2008 and ended on 19th October, 2008 after telecasting 15 episodes. Arslaan was Sony TV’s attempt at creating an identifiable superhero in Indian pop culture, but the serial was not successful in this attempt. The serial was a weekly that used to air every Sunday at 7 at night.

The story of the show is a coming-of-age story that revolves around the protagonist, Arslaan, which is played. The story is set three thousand years ago. Arslaan is a prince but he is a shy young man who does not want to garner any undue attention. However, fate forces his hand and changes him into a beacon of light for humanity and the only chance it has for salvation. Arslaan has to fight Zakfaar, the evil lord who wants to rule over the Earth. Arslaan is helped by his friends, which includes Rudabeh and Shefan, in his mission to vanquish Zakfaar.

The show was an ambitious venture by Sony and involved lots of Computer Generated Graphics. It involved many mythical creatures and lots of magical experiences. It also showed various other technological and magical marvels. The serial was not very successful, and its low ratings led to it being taken off-air after only 15 episodes.
